The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) exercises operational and administrative control of the Indian Navy from the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Navy). He is assisted by the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS) and three other Principal Staff Officers, namely the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (DCNS), the Chief of Personnel (COP) and the Chief of Material (COM).

NAVY AA

You are eligible for Indian Navy Sailors (AA) recruitment only if,

  • You are an unmarried male candidate
  • Qualified in 10+2 examination with 60% or more marks in aggregate with Maths & Physics and at least one of these subjects - Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science from the Boards of School Education recognised by MHRD, Govt. of India.
  • You are born between 01 Feb 1999 to 31 Jan 2002 (Both dates inclusive).

 

Your selection will be based on the order of merit of your performance in Computer-based Examination, qualifying Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in Medical Examinations.

Computer-based Examination:

(a) The question paper will be computer-based with a total of 100 questions, each carrying 01 mark.

(b) The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type (multiple-choice).

(c) The standard of the question paper will be that of 10+2

(d) The candidates are required to clear sectional and overall cut offs (to be decided by Indian Navy later).

(e) For each wrong answer, one fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

(a) Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection.

(b) PFT will consist of:

  1. 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes
  2. 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak)
  3. 10 Push-ups.

Advisory - Proficiency in sports, swimming and extra-curricular activities is desirable.

Medical Standards:

(a) Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.

(b) Minimum height - 157 cms and minimum chest expansion - 5 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate.

Final Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be done at INS Chilka. Candidates who are found medically fit in Final Medical Examination will be enrolled. Initial Medical Examination for recruitment will be considered only “Provisionally fit subject to fitness in the final medical examination”. Candidates who are found medically unfit will be advised to appeal against its findings, if they so desire, at INHS Kalyani, Visakhapatnam within a maximum period of 21 days.

Tattoos

  1. Permanent body tattoos permitted - On inner face of forearms i.e from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reversed side of palm/ back (dorsal) side of hand.
  2. Permanent body tattoos not permitted - On any other part of the body. If found, you will be barred from recruitment.

Note:- Applicants declared Permanent medically unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital in previous recruitment for the same entry in Navy are advised not to apply.

Salary:

  • Sailors for Artificer Apprentice (AA) – Stipend of Rs.14,600/- per month
    • After completion of training – Level 3 Pay of Defence Pay Matrix (Rs. 21,700/- Rs.69,100/-), MSP Rs.5200/- , ‘X’ Group Pay  Rs 6200/- , DA (as applicable)
  • Promotion
    • Up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer-I level 8 of the Defence Pay Matrix (? 47,600- ? 1,51,100), MSP Rs.5200/-, ‘X’ Group Pay Rs 6200/- per month plus DA (as applicable).
